Very interesting cake.... Thanks for yet another quirky item!
Maybe if I wasn't so sick I would appreciate it more.... gastro and food just don't go well. Will try again next week. _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. I hear you guys but you gotta admit, it's creative to think of cake as canvas and icing as paint not to mention downright ambitious! She must have been pretty good, too. I'm not sure how easy it would be to undo errors.
Debbie, I just got your post card. I was thinking of you luxuriating on holiday in Southern France and now I hear you've been sick. I'm so sorry, kiddo. Smooches. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

I agree with Bekbeka, it looks awful to me.
I've been a bit out of touch with C&Z for the past month. Sorry for my absence. I feel a bit embarrassed, about droping out go quickly.
I'll try and pay more attention.
Also, haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, though I'm curious about all the attention it is getting here on C&Z. I suspect it ain't my kind of movie, but I could be surprised. _________________ ' She says, 'I am the glamorous type.' I said, 'So what?' |

Welcome Back Sarape!!! Thought you'd retired and gone on a quest or something! On the subject of the cake now---well I agree with everyone. It truly is witty and stylish and shows great talent as Rainey suggests, but, hmmmm, appetizing------no. (now if only she/he'd used one of the sunflower paintings or something!) _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

it's a lovely idea, but...
after a summer job working at a very posh bakery (hmm, maybe that might be the source of my food-blog obsession of late?), I have some biases about cakes... I'm never a huge fan of cakes-in-pans, and I LOATHE the bitter taste of black icing. With that being said (and the metal pan being removed!) I think it's such a cool idea for a party, or, better yet, to bring to work and make some new friends. _________________ A good book is like an old friend. |

How does one even make black frosting? Reminds me of a friend with whom I made a cake once, age 10 or so. We combined drops of all the food colorings in one bowl with the powdered-sugar frosting. If you think blue is not appetizing, the greyish mess we created was downright nauseating! |

Monica- I remember trying to use those dyes for things they wouldn't do too. If you want vibrant colors you gotta use paste colors. There is a black one too. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Wilton makes a great black paste coloring I have used in the past. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

Thanks Erin, Wilton can be dangerous. They have a distribution center near my house. The summer tent sale is nuts!! |
