you're right guzgo-- that is a good resource! it does a great job of dicussing all those issues that frustrate me when eating "Mexican" food abroad and when explaining to others why most (but not all!!) "Mexican" restaurants outside of Mexico just don't cut it.

Chucha,

Here's a link to a blog I thought was interesting. It seems to be quite new and is still quite sparse. Not yet the rich pot of gold, full of old family recipes you were craving (please do let us know if you find such a thing--it would really be a treasure!). But check this out. I've liked the writing so far:

Hi Chucha!

There's a lot of info over at Rick Bayless's site: http://www.fronterakitchens.com/

Here's my own first entry about Mexican food (though be warned-- this entry is about Tex-Mex; part two, coming later, will be about authentic Mexican): http://www.foodvirgin.com/columns/Mexican.htm

My abuelita passed down just about everything she knows about cooking to me.. If I don't know or don't have it in my notebook, I can ask.

Tip: I used to use mexgrocer.com, but their items are expensive, and the sipping to Peru is frightening. I started to use http://mexicoetal.com for all the things I can't get a hold of in Peru. They even carry achiote.

You are so blessed to have su abuelita as a resource. There are so many things that you cannot learn from a cookbook but can from someone teaching you.
Enjoy!
