Caviar was always part of our little New Year's Eve treat eaten with the traditional onion, egg white and egg yolk, washed down with champagne. But if there was any left over I loved to spoon it into a hot soft boiled egg in the morning!

The one time I had a chance to fly first class (and it was the wonderful Brazilian Airline whose name I am blocking) the caviar was served on a block of carved ice with the usual accompaniments and super chilled good Russian vodka as Simona suggests!

Ooooh! That trick with the soft-boiled egg sounds like it has potential to be good. But, what, pray tell, is it like when it's heated? I've never heard of heated caviar before. Does it lose any of the crunch?

And, oooooo, pistache! Oysters and caviar! I may need to lie down before I swoon.

Enjoy your caviar all the same. On the rocks, in a crystal bowl and with a spoon of course. And Vodka. Of course.
I don't drink vodka.

What the caviar loses in the "pop" arena is made up by the intensification of the flavour that the warmth of the egg yolk supplies.

And I agree---caviar and oysters!!! Heaven may well be filled with such a delight.
