Dear Deste,

Thank you very much for letting us know about both issues. The posts and users have been deleted.

I have installed a couple of tools recently to help fight spam. They are not 100% failsafe and still require my and the moderators' vigilance, but they seem to be helping: we have had far less occurrences these past few weeks.

Thanks again to all the forum participants who are kind enough to let us know about problems when they catch them before we do, it really helps.

Have a lovely day,
Clotilde.

Moderators:

Here is one you might want to delete: http://chocolateandzucchini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1660

Maybe I'm just online at weird times.

Is Clotilde the only one able to banish imps?

At present, the 11 most recent members should be expelled from the site and made to spend the rest of their days crawling up a rocky hill on their knees listening to Hanson sing "MMMBop" over and over and over again.

They are as follows:

Maryqwe
SaxxxZQQ
Pistoneliv
btrezvD....all the way down to SindySexy

Thank you Deste.
Several of us can delete spam posts, but I am the only one who can delete the actual users (this administrative tool would allow whoever uses it to do a lot of accidental damage, so I prefer to be the only one with that responsibility). I check the list of new users two to three times a day and zap the fake ones: this means that when you do see those guys, it's just a matter of hours before I get them.
Have a great day,
Clotilde.

Again, I'd like to thank Clotilde and the moderators for their diligent attention to this troubling issue. It has been quite dreadful for the past couple of weeks!Crying or Very sad

Interestingly, I have been receiving about 10 times the usual volume of spam on my e-mail - which is my work e-mail at school and is rigorously monitored. Then I spoke with a friend who has also been getting spammed like mad on her commercial (sbcglobal) account. The spammers are getting more savvy I think. Twisted Evil

Clotilde - I would be happy to be a Moderator if you need more folks to help out with this effort.

I Embarassed and with new knowledge of the frequency and measures taken concerning these annoyances, I shall search for something else that isn't my business to huff about.

Quel challenge!

Deste,
We sometimes miss things but, lately we have been bombarded with this garbage. No need to feel bad, this site is something we all care about and none of us want to see it diminished by that junk.

Dear all,
Just a note to let you know I've developped a little hack over the weekend that should make it more difficult for spammers to register and post on the forums. It seems to be giving good results for now, we'll see how long that lasts! Smile
Thanks again for your help and understanding regarding these matters,
Clotilde.
