My band and I will be flying home (US) from Germany in late May, and we'll have about 14 hours'-worth of layover in Paris, and I'm looking for suggestions on what to do.
As we'll only be in Paris from about 1800-0800, we're kind of limited to perhaps dinner and breakfast, and I expect we'll be a little on the poor side, but I'm hoping someone can offer some thoughts on good places to go.

One of my favourite places to spend an evening in Paris on the cheap is the Canal St-Martin. It's lovely for a wander (as long as the weather behaves, which it should do in late May) and there are loads of good cafes on both quais. For dinner, I can recommend a little Cambodian restaurant (named, very creatively, Le Cambodge) set back from the quai de Jemmapes - invariably you have to queue, but a stone's throw from there is a great cafe called Le Jemmapes which will let you take your drink out and sit beside the canal while you wait for one of Le Cambodge's tables to free up.
As for breakfast, I think it's nicer to have it in a boulangerie that serves coffee than to go to a cafe - the boulangeries all open at 7 am and sitting there surrounded by the smell of fresh bread while you eat your croissants and drink your coffee is just gorgeous... (sorry, getting a bit nostalgic here!)
