|
|
I've had a number of readers ask about the differences between the American and the British editions, so here's a little list:
- Each edition is published by a different publisher -- Broadway Books for the US edition, Marion Boyars Publishers for the UK edition.
- The US edition will be distributed in North America; the UK edition in the UK and the Commonwealth.
- The recipes in the US edition are in cups and spoons; those in the UK edition use the metric system. I oversaw the conversions myself, based on the notes I took as I was testing the recipes.
- Because they were issued by different creative teams and targeted at different markets, the two editions have different layouts and covers. The UK version is also a bit larger in size.
- A few cultural and spelling adjustments have been made, but the content is 99% the same. There is one recipe in the US version that is not in the UK version, and two recipes in the UK version that are not in the US version -- I'll let you figure out which!

I just know I'm going to be wondering what I'm missing now!!
Are you going to put the 'missing' recipes up here? Or are you going to let us scratch our heads and wonder for a while first?!! _________________ Confusion comes fitted as standard. |

Aha, a treasure hunt! I'm getting both editions, so will pore over them to see if I can 'Spot the Difference'. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Clotilde, first: lots of congratulations for your book!!! and thank you for mentioning that there are metric measurements in the UK version. Although through reading and testing lots of blogged recipes one gathers experiences in handling cups and spoons with time it is still more convenient to use the measurement method you're more familiar with.
Concerning the "treasure hunt" matter, Judy, there might be more: I've recently heard on the radio that there will be a German edition as well ... ;o) |

... and now of course I wonder who the lucky person is who gets to translate the C&Z cookbook into German. I wish it was me. I mean, I have no experience in translating, but it surely seems like a lot of fun to me. |

Well, I think I've figured out what the US-only recipe is (thanks to David's Amazon.ca review) - it's the curried turkey sandwich, isn't it? Now I wonder which two recipes my friends across the pond are missing... |

I had a suspicious feeling they were, but then the jar of Brunette praline I had didn't mention Paris... Still, I shall bring goodies ... because you're worth it.
See you soon. _________________ Confusion comes fitted as standard. |

Clotilde, I cannot agree more... tho' I am addicted to books, does that count?!
My copy just came in... and I was restraining myself from telling the whole bus about it on the way home! But only barely... _________________ Confusion comes fitted as standard. |
