I am back from the sand, heat, and wind of Iraq. Very Happy After a marathon flight that stopped in Kuwait, Europe, the east coast of the U.S., and then finally Seattle, I was finally back where I started almost a year ago. I am very happy if a little chilly since it is a 50 degree temperature change between here and Iraq. But who cares, there's grass, pine trees, and my favorite, the view of Mt. Rainier and all her glacier covered glory. To all those that wished me well and safe, and kept me distracted with talk of other things, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And to all the Seattle area members, just let me know when dinner is on. Wink

Welcome home, bainst! (Tamar, isn't it?) I hope the chilly weather in your Washington state home keeps you just as cozy as can be.

Thank you for your service as a soldier, what a hard hard job you have just completed.

Welcome, welcome, welcome home! Put on a sweater, enjoy that view, and know that we are all glad you are home safe and sound and look forward to the day that all of your friends and fellow military colleagues can say the same.

Zhivio! Sante! L'chaim! Cheers! We raise our glasses to you all.

Good to know you're safe bainst, now you have a chance to open up the book and start cooking... that will warm up the kitchen and you!

I recommend the Honey Almond bites, I've made them twice and they were fabulous both times. ...and so easy even a relative novice like me could do them.

Enjoy the Seattle rain and smell the coffee... but not too much or you'll be zipping around like a mad squirrel!!

Bainst! So glad to hear you're home! What a happy shock to the system it must be to be in cool, lovely Seattle after the desert! And so many other shocks as well, I imagine - culinary, creature comfort levels, tranquility and safety. Wilkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome! We're glad you're back! Cool

Welcome home!!

What good news that you are safe and sound and on familiar soil at last.

I hope that you are able to meet Seattle area C&Zers for a wonderful welcome home feast.

And thank you for the service you gave our nation.

Thank you all. Griffin, your absolutely right. I can't wait to get started to cook in my own kitchen, but I think I should find a place to live first. We have a lot of what the Army calls "reintergration" training before they let us loose on the world. And to be honest, I don't drink that much coffee, but I can't wait to have a lovely cup of hot chocolate.

Tamar, welcome home!

So glad you're back in the beautiful Washington State enjoying all it has to offer. It's a lovely part of the world. Hope you get to enjoy it for a long time - any other overseas adventures planned?

I wonder if, as you get settled, you could come up with some neutral address (an office, a post office box) where someone could send some goodies for you to enjoy with your hot chocolate by way of a welcome home????

You know Rainey, I was wondering the same thing too! Very Happy After all, if I can't give you a welcome hug, at least I can send you a sort of hug all your own.

Ah yes, re-integration... they should do that for politicians too methinks, a lot of them could do with reminding what society means... but maybe that's just our looney lot!! Well so long as you get some cooking space, you could re-integrate just fine... after all good food and drink is integrating, especially with others.

I hope you find a pleasant place to live and yes, hot chocolate is one of my favourites too. Be safe and well Tamar - you've more than earned it.

Welcome home Tamar! Enjoy multiple cups of hot chocolate and the gorgeous fall leaves that are most likely making their yearly appearance. Very Happy
