So everyone I finally figured out how to put my pictures on Flickr, and how to share them. So I am placing the link if any wants to look. Please don't think I am promoting the situation there. I am only sharing some of my personal experiences there.

Tamar! --your pictures are so interesting-- The Mc-Whatever schwarma? -- are burgers served? Your boss Hayes is so cool & funny in hot pink and hot orange.
--yikes--I see the reinforcements piled up against your sleeping quarters-- and your work pictures, wow-- so many people who will never know you owe you so much.
Thank you so much for sharing these,
delighted to see them! |

Thank you, Tamar, for the glimpse of what really is another world for all of us. If you told us that you were part of the medical staff, I missed that report. Are you a doc? nurse? medic? Whatever your position, you and your colleagues deserve the greatest respect. (My husband was an ER nurse for many years--a tough and important job--and that's without being in a war zone!)
Thanks again for sharing your photos. May they become part of your memories and have no more pictures joining them.
Hope you are enjoying every minute of being back in the US. |

Thanks everyone for all the kind compliments. For those of you that don't already know. I am a surgical technician. The unit I am in is a specialty surgical team. The cases that we specialized in were Neurosurgery, Spinal Trauma, Eye Trauma, and Facial trauma cases. I was on the Neuro-Spinal Team. And I do agree, my commander, Dr.(Col) Hayes, the facial surgeon was pretty cool. Oh, and gingerpale, thes resturant is McDonald's! And yes they serve burgers. _________________ Live as if to die tomorrow. Learn as if to live forever.

They really do lend another dimension to the topic title "Around the World".
Ironically, it looks like it could be a lovely place if it weren't, presently, so brutal.
Bet you did wonderful work but glad you've survived it all and are done with it now. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Fantastic photos, Tamar, thanks so much for sharing them with us. So, if you're allowed to tell us, what are you doing now? _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Thanks Judy. I am back at Fort Lewis. When we are back we just basically train to go back out there again. We exercise for an hour five days a week starting at 0630. After that we shower , eat, change and then get ready to start our day. Checking equipment, going to weapons ranges. Maybe once a quarter, some of us that are medical personnell will go to the hosptial for a month to maintain our skills, since we are not assigned to the hospital regualarly. After that, once a quarter, we will do a big training exercise where we set up our field hospital, pretend we a doing our jobs, then tear it down. Depending on he exercise, it could be for a week upto a month. We either stay at Fort Lewis, or we can go to Cailfornia or Louisiana. Whatever the mission dictates. _________________ Live as if to die tomorrow. Learn as if to live forever.

You're going back?! Man! Am I not getting the picture...
I was dragging my heels about putting an actual package together. I'll pick up the pace. How long will you be here? _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

No, hon' not for about another year or so. But we still have to be what we call "battle-ready". So we just can't sit around. _________________ Live as if to die tomorrow. Learn as if to live forever.

Tamar,
From one instrument jockey to another, I am happy you are home, and thanks so much for the Flickr page! If I were ten years younger, I'd have joined up and been right there with ya!
