Its a superb book, we're getting a lot of great ideas from it while we're here in Paris. Unfortunately we won't be here long enough to make full use of it, there's so much in it, but I'm already planning our next trip .... whenever that might be. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

I just got home from Seattle and found it waiting for me. I can't wait to put it into action. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

I received mine on April 22 (two in fact - the extra one is for a friend in Iowa). I am going to the book signing on Tuesday, May 6. I can't wait to see Clotilde again. I was at one of her book signings two years ago. Lucky me!
Clotilde has a way of writing that engages one to participate. The book has a good layout and lots of nice photographs, recipes from some chefs and fun to read. This is going to be another successful book! _________________ "A man hath no better thing under the sun than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry." |

I just got mine tonight with a nice little autograph from the lovely Mlle Clotilde herself! She is as sweet as she seems, and it was a treat to finally say hello to her in person. I told her I wish she could have stayed longer in Portland.
Now I get to do what I have waited all this time to do- sit with both books, digest them and then head to the kitchen. I'm kinda giddy, actually... _________________ There is only one way to die- With a full stomach and a good tan. |

I know it's going to be amazing. Italy, France and Japan are going to be the main visits of our trip but there is just something so amazing about Paris and Clotilde makes it sound like the most wonderful place. |

knifethrower... did you take a picture or two while @ Clotilde's book signing?
Please let us know what you decide to cook--many desserts have been tried, I want to do a savory one. (The Quinoa, Mushroom, and Bacon Cake! --from the 1st book.)
TheKitchenEnquirer--some trip you're taking! When Australians travel they travel I've noticed--(save somewhere for a second honeymoon?) I took a little look at your blog--enjoyed it very much! |

Hey, Look! Pictures from last night!
Only in Portland can you have a hip French chick hang out with Kiss and Michael Jackson in the Velveteria at Powell's!
Knifethrower gets her books signed...
What a neat experience seeing a room full of Clotilde's readers in a public room... I felt funny not being in my bathrobe and fuzzy, post-consumer, recycled soda bottle socks like I usually am when I usually hang with the C&Z foodies...!
What am I going to make first? I will have to get back to you on that one, but I did improvise on Clotilde's Tomato Confit this morning, served with baked eggs and smoked sea salt... A breakfast befitting the Lady Herself, I hope! _________________ There is only one way to die- With a full stomach and a good tan. |

Great pics, Jen. It's good to know I'm not the only C&Zer who wears a dressing gown (trans: bathrobe) while hanging out here. I'm glad you dressed up for the book signing, though
Gingerpale, Aussies are definitely used to travelling. We go vast distances around and across this huge island of ours, and everywhere else in the world is so far away that when we make the effort to leave the country, we make sure we get the most out of it.
TheKitchenEnquirer, have a fantastic trip. It sounds amazing. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Yes, knifethrower, you must be pleased with those pictures--especially nice candid shots, and the background...!
Judy, yes, I figured the relative isolation of Australia has much to do with the vagabond spirit, and prolonged multi-continent trips. (I have a big world map on a wall--sometimes when I see Oz I want to 'click and drag'--and bring you all closer! )
Haha--to me a "dressing gown" is nice/new silky/shiny, worn while powdering and glittering before dressing for a party/stage appearance.
A "bathrobe" is not shiny, it's threadbare but absorbs some water, faded now but was once thick and a pretty color--a Christmas present! |
