OK, I really need to tell you guys this by now....Things are going to change for me - change a lot!!! What won't change is my reading this blog and forum, and asking for travelling tips. What will change is probably my destinations - and from where I will travel.
I WILL BE MOVING TO HONGKONG!!!!! AND I (OK, WE) WILL BE MARRIED!!!!
Mr 'not so new anymore' Boyfriend accepted a new and exciting job in Hongkong, starting the 1st of march. As a preparation we were there from dec 01-11, had a great time, found an appartment for the first three months (from there we'll look for something more permanent) and fell in love with the city.
AND he proposed to me!!! (after having talked about marriage quite a bit when we knew we were moving to HongKong - he didn't think that was overly romantic so..there it was...he proposed!!) IN CHOCOLATE!! After a dinner, in HK, a surprise chocolate desert came with, on the plate, written in chocolate: 'Mickey will u marry me'...ofcourse!!! Tears, a big kiss and a YES with all my heart. (and written in chocolate as well later )
Unplanned, but very pretty were the fireworks from HK Disney, (we had a good view where we sat) starting just after I said Yes...
So...I resigned my job (was ready for something new anyway), found a beautifull dress (because my wonderfull mr romantic would love to have a real real wedding....even if it is a tight schedule (2 months is not a long time to plan a wedding, sell one house, prepare what to put in the seacontainer going to HK, find THE dress, oh, and work a little, prepare the other house for living in it with two instead of one, finding homes for our cats, arranging a housesitter for the times we're gone, spending time with friends and family - and eachother...but we're just smiling all the time (allmost - if the stress doesn't get me which it does now and then!) and we're very happy!!
So, how's that for turning ones life upside down?!?!? |

Swan !!!!!
This is absolutely THE best news I've had all week. I'm so, so delighted for you and the not-so-new boyfriend. Oh, wait, he's your fiancee now. Y'know when we saw you both in Paris, I was almost positive you'd get married.
And Hong Kong - that's even closer to Australia, and I haven't been there for decades, and we need an excuse to travel, and ... when did you say you'd be there? LOL, it's okay, we'll give you a chance to settle in and find all the good food places first.
Brilliant, wonderful news. Thanks for sharing this lovely news, and for making me smile from the other side of the world. And big hugs to you both. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

How absolutely fabulous!!!!!!!!
I second Judy in saying that it was obvious you two would be together forever.
We are both thrilled to bits for the two of you. _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. If you can, drink more red wine. Diet is just "die" with a "t" on the end. Exercise is walking into the kitchen. |

Congratulations Swan, I'm so happy for you!
I've never met your fiance, but any man who'd propose in chocolate is obviously a keeper. |

Chocolate for a woman is original. This guy must be a real genius to think of that. _________________ ' She says, 'I am the glamorous type.' I said, 'So what?' |

ah well, Sarape, the man shaved his moustache for me. That's what I call commitment!!!
Marriage is the icing on the cake (chocolate icing !)
So yes David, the moustache came off, during our summer holidays. He looks so much better now... (What, shallow, me?!!?) |
