I recently joined Twitter and I can't stop Tweeting.

Please follow me:

http://twitter.com/sweetretweet

I share my fave blog links, recipes and occasionally I'll mention music.

For those not familiar with Twitter is a kind of mini blog, you can update people (your followers) what your doing but in no more than 140 characters. A bit like facebook but quicker to sign up, free and less organisation.

One of my first tweets (which is what posting a message is called) was posting the C & G blog link.

I signed up! I am a facebook addict and don't know anyone on twitter but I find that it will fulfill my cooking addiction better than facebook! I am looking for as many cooks as possible on there with great recipes and ideas.

Although I respect Twitter as another channel for providing mini-blogging or keeping-in-touch type sound bytes, I'm one of the few people who doesn't understand the value of Twittering. Can someone explain it to me?

I'm not here to offend any fans of Twitter. Most of the world loves and uses Twitter and I totally respect that.

I'm with harpo for the most part on this but my reasoning is totally practical! I mean, it is nigh on to impossible for me to say anything that means anything in under 140 characters. lol I'm wayyyy too wordy for such restrictions, although I must say I love the fact we now have the verb "to tweet" in our lexicon. (approx 250 characters--see what I mean!)

Isn't it amazing how the communication capabilities of cell phones and the internet are changing the way we communicate? I never would have seen all this coming! I actually still write letters! I guess that makes me a dinosaur. Oh well . . . the radio changed the world, then television and now cell phones and the world wide web.

I love Twitter. I find it a great way of keeping in touch with what friends are up to without needing to send emails. It is also a great way to hear peoples experiences with books, movies, restaurants, wines etc.

Barb...on letter writing...I received a letter recently and the handwriting was so tiny I had to use a magnifying glass...I looked like my mother!
