My husband and I will be visiting our daughter in Paris in April She is studying at Sciences Po and we are timing our visit to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. I am looking for restaurant suggestions. He wants French food. It does not need to be a "big name" restaurant, but it could be. I am willing to splurge if it is worth it! It might also be fun to try an up and coming restaurant...

Thanks!

Hi there COverbey - and bienvenue!

I would definitely go out and get Clotilde's book Edible Adventures in Paris to start!

Then I would go through the Paris & France forum looking for specific threads referring to trips to Paris. I spent my "umptieth" birthday in Paris two years ago - the thread is entitled "Paris in February" - and folks made some great suggestions. I also summarized my trip with commentary on the restaurants we went to.

We had my birthday dinner at Aux Lyonnais - an Alain Ducasse resto in the 2eme. It is a very warm, very antique-y feeling bistro with fabulous food. And it's not tres cher!

Plus, your daughter will probably have some dandy suggestions of interesting and un-touristy places to eat now that she's a Parisienne!

Anyway, there is a TON of info in the Paris forum that you should take advantage of. Keep us posted on your trip and...

Bon Appetit!
Donna
