Yes, indeed! And after you get the fire going, of course, you just gather the rest of your ingredients to make S'mores over your fire from the remaining chocolate.
It's got that gratifying Circle of Life thing going for it, no?
PS Once upon a time when I was buying new ski boot in LA a very nice man struck up a conversation with me on the subject of skiing in Whistler (we both LOVE it!). After he left, the guy who was fitting my boots told me it was Richard Dean Anderson -- MacGyver himself! I guess I don't have to explain that I didn't watch the show...
Too bad I didn't know then about the chocolate starting a fire thing. It might have turned up in an episode of MacGyver. ...except for the part about this being several years after the show was over. Oh well...
Oh, Rainey, I AM jealous. I adore Richard Dean Anderson. The first season of MacGyver was recently released on DVD & I watched several episodes....I am not so sure it has passed the test of time!
And speaking of s'mores...when we make them at the cottage around the campfire we cheat and use digestive cookies that have one side covered in chocolate. All you have to do is roast the marshmallow & then sandwich them between 2 of those cookies (chocolate side in, of course). Very easy and tasty especially if you use the Peek Freans digestive cookies. Not as messy.
