|
|
While wandering around Barbara's excellent website I noticed an entry about "whacky wine names", Barbara was commenting on a bottle of Red Rock Underarm!!
Anyway our provincial liquor board has recently purchased 1/3 of South Africa's Fairview Wineries output of "Goats Do Roam In Villages-2003". Sounds whacky but the Wine Spectator graded it at 90, and at a Canadian price of 14.95 that sounds like good value! Dick will be hunting a bottle down this very afternoon for Sunday dinner! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

David I recognised the name Goats that Roam and remembered someone had reviewd them for the Wacky named Wines Blog event. You can read the review here.

Thanks for the link Barbara--fascinating reading. And we did find and did try Goats Do Roam and quite enjoyed it! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

A friend of mine once brought something called Cat's Pee on a Gooseberry Bush Sauvignon Blanc to a dinner party. It was one of the most vile wines I'd ever tasted. Apparently it comes from a vineyard in New Zealand called Cooper's Creek. Cute bottle but that's about it. |

I like the names of wines from Bonny Doon Vineyards in California. My latest giggle was over a luscious dessert wine called "Bouteille Call." But for short it is referred to by the distributor as "Booty Call." _________________ "Cooking, like love, should be entered into with abandon, or not at all." Harriet Van Horne |

Who Cares?
No, I'm not being insensitive, it's a brand that belongs to Geoff Merrill.
Probably one of the few bottles of wine I bought purely for the name. |
