I finally broke down and bought a conical burr coffee grinder last week (a Capresso 565). It's been great. It's a lot quieter than a blade grinder, less mess to deal with, and it yields a very consistent grind.
My wife wants a deep-fryer, mostly to fry capers. |

and look, the handles look like wings....I can think of a zillion PLUS uses for this dish...fingers crossed ~ the angels might wing it my way...it's only quite tiny, but that's ok by me..
http://www.lecreuset.fr/produits/produits_fantaisies.htm the dish with the wings..the heart..the cooking of love.............................
and a blank cheque to be used at The Essential Ingredient in Sydney...heaven, I'm in heaven ...she sings.
agree with the silicon..amazing stuff eh!..
oh, and flexible bakeware...such a treat would be to replace all the metal stuff...although it has been a good and faithful servant . _________________ "I've never accepted the external appearance of things as the whole truth. The best new kitchen toy that I'm giving to everyone is a serrated vegetable peeler. Just like the old faithful peelers except for those little tiny teeth....makes peeling tomatoes instead of blanching to peel them so much easier! _________________ "Nobody can teach you how to make the perfect cup of tea. Oh Oh Oh! A microplane grater-- can zest citrus like the wind!
Big metal mixing bowls
a food processor
and most of all KNIVES!
sadly i didn't even ASK for any of these things, because i'm leaving to spend the semester at findhorn in scotland in three weeks, and i think i'd be broken-hearted to recieve so many beautiful toys, only to have to leave them behind, unused for 5 months. sigh. for my birthday though... |

No, no, David, just go and buy one yourself!
I always give myself a Christmas present - this year it was a sparkling clean oven (I paid someone to come and do it - $88 well spent), last year it was broadband internet access. In years past I've given myself a CD player, a spice grinder, a pair of really good dressmaking scissors. I'm always grateful for whatever I get for Christmas, but at least with 'my' present, I'm always getting something I REALLY want. |

Well in truth I will give him a few days grace. My birthday is the 29th, so if they ain't under the tree they'd better be on the table come the morning of the 29th--------------------or I will just go to J.A. Adams down the street and get them myself like the little mouse I am _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

David if you don't get one I'll send you one! Of course then you would have to send me back a cake you made and that would be tricky, frosting and all. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

I went to buy myself a present at Kitchen Collection, and they had bundt pans with a design of hearts in various depths of relief. I resisted temptation.
But I did buy myself 4 little mini-springform pans, which I've been wanting for awhile, and a salt/pepper grinder combo that I can operate. I have fibromyalgia & don't have the hand strength to use the twist-type anymore. This one has 2 handles that squeeze together.
I also found -- Ta Da! A Potato Brush Just Like Clotilde's! So I was a good little C&Z lemming and bought one of those too. It's just too cute! |
