An old girlfriend who worked at a help hotline some nights told me that the basement of this old building where they worked was haunted. She explained that several people heard noises down there when no one else was around and some other odd things.

The point was that I asked her to verify one of these events but doing some "research". And she got defensive and told me that it can't be studied, or some such nonsense. I could see she didn't like to be challenged and so we dropped the issue.

There was an interesting scientific study about 5 years ago on the appearance of ghosts. These researchers were studying the human eye and found that they could reproduce a shadowy image by using low-frequency sound waves.

The sound waves were vibrating the eye in such a way as to produce a ghost-like image. Since many basements of homes and buildings have motors and things which may be vibrating at these low frequencies, they concluded that this was the origin of many of these supernatural images.

well pals two ~ a small gathering it would appear...however there's more to it than meets the eye Wink

for the moment, a request:

there is a city, almost in the middle of Queensland, named Mt Isa. would anyone reading this post send some travel thoughts to Mt Isa. You could perhaps look it up on the net to see exactily where it is...

I've been asked to plant a seed ....the idea of travel...from Mt Isa to Melbourne...said I would...'n thought, I could ask the C&Zers to help...

now Sarape, cut me some slack here...won't hurt you Wink am sure you'd have many many travel images up your sleeve!

so darlings...would ya give it a go for me...'n if you'd ask your pals to do the same it would be wondrous...merci in advance...

my image for Mt Isa is one of those gorgeous old travel trunks with labels covering it ...how about we imagine the Mt Isa clouds with planes and travel trunks...
hugs

I've been putting off jumping in on this one, plenty of scepticism and an open mind...I've always been more hopeful of natural aliens from a distant planet than supernatural ghosts anywhere but I'll get into that shortly.

Since madame's playing such an easy game to join, I'll picture the couple, wearing pants, heading out from silvery Mt. Isa. Mr. has a gift in his suitcase for their hostess and Mrs. carries the itinerary.

sbj ~ excellent play! congratulations...

have been tossing up whether to post this...however after the response by a group I was with today...yep I say..

a bit of background: a few weeks back I was staying with someone I've recently reconnected with ~ I was in another room as she asked "when's your birthday?"....25 August said I.....a few moments later a big belly laugh ~ I called out "what's so funny?"...."You'll see!"

there she was with a big book on her lap "The Secret Language of Birthdays"...still laughing...pointing to a page...there, a page for those born on 25 August, were the words "The Day of the Unabashed Extrovert"...have been known to dabble in that world Wink Wink Wink

intrigued I was...oh...strengths and weaknesses of said birthday folk...

flamboyant sexual energetic

needy insecure

yep...seemed to cover it quite nicely!

so, dear reader..if you're curious...I have said book for a few days...when I told a friend of the book she told me she has a copy..today, with 7 others, many birthdays were checked...even the skeptics were nodding their skeptical heads...

anyone curious?...post a birthday and I'll look it up for you.....either in this thread or ya can pm me...I'll send you back the listed strengths/weaknesses...come on sarape Very Happy give it a go! put that toe of yours in the water...no matter what its temperature, it's exciting...

must admit I can imagine some shaking heads in either disbelief etc...a few years back I can imagine I would have too....however in the past few whatevers I've had experiences that have shaken me...quirkily to my core...

imo, nothing is random ~ all is connected...moments have meaning...that a day has 24 hours has meaning...that we have both night and day...that we are born within a 24 hour timeframe...ok..I know I know...that time idea...can be different elsewhere...beyond beyond...yet here we are..humans...a big group of humanity....living..as we choose to live...

time methinks to raise a glass to us all....and always wish us well...all of us..

hugs

Sorry folks, but here's where the Skeptic walks to the front of the room and starts talking. How 'bout I describe myself, and YOU tell ME what day I was born!

I suppose I miss out on a lot of fun, but I just don't believe water is wet unless you can prove it with a cup of water and a dry stick.

September 6

We know Clotilde's too, of course, July 27.

ummmmmmmmm was going to wait until a few jobs had been completed...however, you know me Wink

now my sweeties, a few words before you rush to thy day!...yesterday, as we were going through the days...one particular response was telling..in fact two...

one birthday was Oct 21...inspirational attractive verbal (this woman is those 3 in abundance...no two ways about it!!!) weaknesses: self-destructive addictive argumentative ~ I see that side of her often...she didn't want to ....however after a little while...yep..she could...if you don't know shadow stuff, it's rather confronting...if you do know shadow stuff, you know the weaknesses are simply resources for your particular life lesson/s

my darling husband didn't like reading about his combative side...his argumentative side....yet all have met that part of his being...

as they have met the insecure needy part of my being..

I'll have the book with me for a week or so...so if anyone wants to add a particular birthday....

as for the darlin' Clotilde, would only do that with her request....'tis a personal thing methinks...(however if you've a birthday you're curious about ...that's ok by me...maybe a pal...a child...a mother...papa...we've no need to know the relationship...I'm cool with that Wink )

so, folk who enrich my days, go for it!!!!!! Smile

Dec 29: The Day of Preeminence

interesting communicative commanding/self-unaware careless undiplomatic

Aug 18: The Day of Endurance

adaptable patient deep /struggling obsessive combative

Sept 6: The Day of Unpredictable Fate

accepting sympathetic tasteful/self-involved repressed fatalistic

July 16: The Day of the Rising Tide

faithful passionate nurturing/repressed unrealistic moralizing

Feb 11: The Day of Improved Comfort

helpful inventive appreciative/excessive overinvolved insensitive

David undiplomatic? I don't buy that one for a second! I can remember when he showed restraint and grace that was admirable and extraordinary. And I think he has the sort of emotional generosity and flexiblity that are also key ingredients in diplomacy.

http://www.smh.com.au/news/national/what-god-young-losing-faith/2006/08/05/1154198377027.html

thought since you're reading this thread...believers and others Wink , you might be interested in this study...

in my immediate family, I'm rather the odd one out..in the do you believe in the Christian idea of god?...or god?...or ...golly it's a tricky business isn't it Smile I was raised as a Catholic...so am sort of the black sheep in the extended family...in a way anyway...

perhaps this could be included in the thread...if you feel like posting...beginnings to now...

in my family, it would have been truly UNthinkable that any of us would be other than Catholic...

and there you have it...the sky didn't fall down...the zigzag flash didn't strike me Wink

am enjoying the journey ~ even the Mt Everest climbs...'tough I wouldn't say that mid-climb!
