If you're in the US (possibly Canada too) and you're in the market for a saucier, Bed Bath & Beyond has a Caphalon laminated stainless 3-qt. pan for $39. I couldn't believe it. I think I paid at least 3 times that for a 1-qt All-Clad saucier. The shape is not a common one in the US so I didn't have a whole lot of choices for a less expensive one.
If you haven't used a saucier, they're enormously convenient for sauces (hence the name), sugar work and other things that need to stay in motion. The pan has sloping sides that round into the bottom eliminating corners that the whisk or spoon can't fit into.
BTW, Caphalon gives the pan some other name I can't remember so don't ask for a saucier, look for the bowl-like profile. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |
