I love sharing new travel and food tidbits that I pick up from my friends and family, and I recently heard a really exciting one from a close friend of mine. He is related to the well know and acclaimed Malcolm Stogo, and recently was able to go on one of his food tours of Italy. Stogo is usually linked to ice cream, but he is apparently branching off with much success. Tell me what you think because I am interested in going and I would appreciate any helpful feedback. http://www.malcolmsfoodtours.com/

You forgot "none of the above". For me it's definitely stone fruits: peaches, nectarines, plums and apricots. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Have to agree, there's nothing more divine than a perfectly ripe peach. |

(And that might be the one thing the east coast has going for it.) |

I must say I do agree with the peaches...how could that slip my mind. I think I just mentally threw together ingredients for a good fruit cocktail..and by cocktail I mean drink...watermelon martinis are superb. _________________ Jessica Lynne |

My favourite summer fruits are stone fruits like peaches, nectarines and berries, any berries. My all time favourite, which I will buy regardless of price is cherries!
Kiwi fruit is available here all the time, so I find my interest in it waning. I love pineapple and mango, but the ones here just aren't as good as the ones we have when we got to Aussie *sigh* |

I also ADORE cherries, but I have NO self control. I can only buy them in tiny bunches because I will eat every single one of them - to the point that I am sick to my stomach! This is an embarrassing but true fact.
Summer is my very favorite fruit season - like nearly everyone on this thread, I adore the stone fruits and berries! Blue, black, rasp, ollallie, goose, you name it! And I love to make fruit crisps with stone fruit and berries. there's just no prettier or more delicious combination to my way of thinking!
And now, grace a Rainey - I can make stone fruit and berry ice cream! _________________ L'appetit vient en mangeant. -Rabelais |

I have just enjoyed a bowl of my favourite summer fruit - strawberries! In this part of the world they epitomize summer - starting with 'strawberries and cream' at Wimbledon in early June. Later, varieties of Scottish strawberries are in the shops.
Of course nowadays they are available all year, imported from the USA and Spain mainly, but home produced fresh strawberries are hard to beat for flavour and sweetness.
We have had record breaking temperatures throughout July and I have had a bumper crop of raspberries and blackcurrants in my own modest garden. _________________ Yesterday is history...

Ooooh I forgot about cherries can I change my vote ? When I was at high school I used to work picking cherries at a farm near my home. They used to pay by the hour and it was in the summer holidays. I used to come home and look in the mirror- I would have cherries all over me from top to bottom, but mainly around my mouth! I think it was kinda obvious what I had been doing all day! I still love them and I never got sick of them (even after pigging out on them all day). |
