To all Australian C&Zers wherever you are in the world, and to all honorary Aussies (that's the rest of you!)

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY

In true Australian fashion we're celebrating with a few beers and a barbie with some friends. And the much-discussed Turkish Orange Cake to show our multiculturalism

Wherever you are today, and whatever you do, "have a good'un!"

And if you need to brush up on your Strine (Australian Slang), here's a great Australian Slang Dictionary

Cheers, Judy

Oh, Happy Australia Day, and thanks for bringing our attention to it!
Is this the day that you bake and eat Anzac biscuits?

Thanks Clotilde.

Too hot for baking - we usually eat Anzac biscuits on Anzac Day, April 25th.

Traditional Australia Day celebrations usually involve a Barbecue, beer and friends.

Hey Emilyj, how's that beer gene going? Have you got it yet?

anyone interested in the history of Anzac biscuits....

http://www.awm.gov.au/encyclopedia/anzac/biscuit/recipe.htm

joyous day to all....

we had intended to go to the International Regatta Centre (where the Sydney Olympic Rowing/Whitewater Rafting competitions were held)...nearby to where we live...a group The Enormous Horns, and fireworks..

however, our dear neighbours who came to Australia from Germany over 30 years ago, asked us to come over for Australia Day drinks...how lovely was this afternoon...we sat and shared stories, laughed, discussed life (Chris isn't interested in seeing Pan's Labyrinth Wink )

so no dancing to the band...no fireworks....something other and something delightful...

cheers to all ...both residing in Oz and those living elsewhere...and the Debbie gal!

hugs and love

Madame,

All the Aussies I've ever met all seemed too laid back for too much pomp and circumstance, something I've always liked. So the lack of Grand Music with National Anthems and the like, in favour of the booze, barbecue and mates makes perfect sense... tho' I don't like beer much either Crying or Very sad ... but Aussie wines on the other hand!!! Very Happy

Watch out for those marsupial lions I've been reading about. Just cos they've found bones, don't mean they are necessarily extinct... maybe they are just hiding and waiting for the moment... to pounce!!! Shocked

Happy Australia Day to the lot of ya!
