Oh, wow, the wonders of modern technology and telecommunications I have just watched Clotilde on TV in the US, from my computer in Australia. She was great, the food and presentation were excellent, but it was a shame about the presenter interrupting all the time. Clotilde was far more professional than the presenter. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

I felt the same, kept wanting the presenter to shut up and let Clotilde strut her stuff. Still, lovely to hear Clotilde speak and to see her on telly... albeit via computer.
If she's not careful she's going to end up with a fan club... oh hang on, this IS her fan club!! _________________ Confusion comes fitted as standard. |

Hello all - I've been lurking around this board for several years now and have continually enjoyed and been inspired by Clotilde and the community.
I managed to get into my local bookstore shortly before closing and picked up the book!! And proceeded to sit up much too late into the wee hours happily reading until I fell asleep with the lights on. I can't wait to try out the recipes.
I already have ideas about small dinner parties. I'd be interested in hearing how others combine the recipes for a multi-course dinner for friends.
And, as an aside on the Today Show - the pace of the presenters was bothersome, but, seeing it in real time, it was necessary, as the segment was at the end of the show, and was likely to cut to local news updates (as they almost did on my local station!). I think that they were simply trying to get through everything so the viewers could see all of the other delicious plates!
Apologies for the long post - I guess I had a lot to say building up! |

What a sweet face to put with Clotilde's charming writing. What bright eyes. She was nearly overpowered by those other women, but I think she held her own rather gracefully.
Welcome, frachellea!! |

I just checked in at Canada's largest on-line bookstore (amazon.ca) and they only have 2 copies left in stock (more on the way) I also wrote my first online review there, short but sweet, should appear tomorrow. _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

IT ARRIVED!!! It was on my doorstep when I came home today!
First of all, the book is gorgeous and everything I had hoped. The photographs are wonderful and the writing is as enchanting as Clotilde herself must be.
Next on the to-do list: dive head first into the recipes.
The Today show segment was fun to watch (drat! missed it in real time because of work). Thank goodness I don't work tomorrow - will be up late tonight reading and plotting my next several cooking adventures.
Joy joy! |

I was so jealous yesterday of folks who went out and bought the book locally. I thought I'd have to wait a long time for the books I PRE-ORDERED several months ago.
But - NO! when I arrived home this afternoon - there was the smiley little pacquet from Amazon waiting for me on the front porch! Lucky me!
It's quite a wonderful collection of recipes and lots of "astuces" - little bits of advice about lots of different things. Her photos are just stunning - what an eye! I am thrilled to have it in my hot little hands! And so pleased for Clotilde at how it looks and how the tour seems to be going!
I'm quite ready to dive in and start cooking! I bought two for gifts and may have to buy several more!
Here's hoping Rainey will come up so we can see Clotilde together! Georgia is - malheureusement - at her villa in Umbria and won't be able to join us! _________________ L'appetit vient en mangeant. -Rabelais |

Excellent review on Amazon.ca, David! And you can probably guess who voted for your review.
Have you cooked anything out of it yet?
Has anyone? _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Ha ha such fun!!! No no cooking yet Judy--between getting the spring garden clean up and planting done, selling our rental property and Ottawa in the NHL semi-final round there really is no time for real cooking! _________________ Vivant Linguae Mortuae!! |

Finally! Of course I imagined myself immediately starting to cook as soon as the book emerged from its wrapper, but no. I'm perusing and planning and picking and choosing.
(My poor clueless Rich, told that we'll be having "Chocolate & Zucchini" a lot in the next few weeks, thinks that we'll be having a lot of chocolate and zucchini..)
I love the photo opposite the title page for Gateaux--I think it's one of only two non food pictures in the book (?) -- it's a shot of the Sacred Heart dome, over the shoulder of a merry-go-round! Both a dome and a carousel resembling fancy cakes, of course!
Probably my first try will be a ricotta cake, sounds good! |
