i'm going to be in paris next weekend with a good friend, and she's vegetarian. are there any restaurants we should watch out for? we'll be staying in le marais: maybe in the 6th or not too far beyond? |

thanks, athena, for these links! i printed out some ideas and tucked them into my suitcase...
one of the restaurants praised - "piccolo teatro" - was our destination on saturday evening at dinnertime, but after we finally found the rue des écouffes (it wasn't on our map, and nobody we asked was sure) it was not open. we ended up crossing the little street to "angela's caffe", a tiny italian restaurant where most of the dishes were vegetarian. we had a terrific meal! angelina cooks up a tasty storm in her tiny kitchen, resplendent in fishnet stockings and slippers: we had eggplant parmigiana to start, and then a fresh pasta with four cheeses, and another with red pesto, ricotta, and black pepper. it was all memorable. her specialty that day was a pasta envelope filled with asparagus, cheese, and rose petals: other guests were enthusiastic...
not for vegans, all that fromage, but definitely recommended! |

Thanks for the Angela's Caffe recommendation, Lynn!
Another destination for next time would be R'Aliment, they always have at least a couple of vegetarian dishes on the daily menu. One thing though : they're closed on week-ends, so it's a weekday option only, but a very tasty one! |
