The new Donna Hay issue has a lovely recipe for Chilli Roasted Pumpkin Salad with anchovy dressing (olive oil, tahini, chopped anchovies & lemon juice). Does anyone have any ideas for how achieve that anchovy taste without using anchovies?

I don't know if you would get the anchovy taste but perhaps some sea vegetable flakes or salt could be substituted.

Barbara, I will try using sea veggie flakes. I was wondering if anchovies had a smokey flavor at all, if so I would add a dash of chipotle powder as well...will let you know how it goes.

Good idea, thanks!

How about using capers or caper berries? It's more about salt than smoke I think!
