They are complete. I tried to make reservations for six. It seems they set aside only one part of the restaurant for this event and the other parts are for regular diners. How foolish is that!
There's another Clotilde book signing at the French Library in Boston. I'll try tomorrow. They are closed on Sundays. _________________ Sharing food with another human being is an intimate act that should not be indulged in lightly

That seems crazy, cigalechanta. Surely if they had enough interest in the book signing they could use the whole restaurant for the event.
Good luck with getting into the French Library. Please excuse my ignorance, is it a restaurant also?
I'm so envious of people who will get to see Clotilde. It would be wonderful.
Hey, Clotilde, when are you coming to do an Australian book tour? _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

The restaurant in Cambridge is Chez Henri. I wish she had picked Brasseri Jo in Boston where Patricia Wells had her book signing.

I suspect Clotilde may not have had much to do with venue choices, they were probably organised by her publisher or a public relations-type person or organisation. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Whenever I hear authors talk about book signing tours they sound exhausting! Imagine for the next two weeks you are making maybe 2 plane connections every day to reach a new city destination. New hotel, new transportation arrangements, jet lag! Smiling for hundreds of people who want to make a personal connection. Your wrist aches from writing inscriptions! Hospitable bookstore owners are doing a lot of work for you, and need you to be the frosting on their cake! Prestige and ego-gratification aside, an author must feel like a puppet on many strings-- all tugging! (Of course Clotilde will do all of this better than ordinary touring authors.) |
