Hi,
Got all the ingredients to make the quinoa, mushroom & bacon cake but the pack of quinoa I bought in the health shop has no cooking instructions and Clotilde's recipe says cook the quinoa in stock or salted water according to the package instructions. Is there a standard time for cooking quinoa, at last an idea !

Hello Elise, and welcome to the forums!
Here's how I cook my quinoa:
- place the quinoa in a colander and rinse under cold water,
- bring twice its volume of lightly salted water (or stock) to a simmer in a saucepan (say you're cooking 1 cup quinoa; bring 2 cups water to a simmer),
- add the quinoa, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes,
- remove from heat, and let stand, covered, for 10-15 minutes, until the quinoa has bloomed to absorb all the water/stock.
Enjoy!
Clotilde.

You can also toast it a little in a hot pan before adding it to the water.

Thanks! Looking forward to try it this week end. Think it would be nice with a lamb lettuce salad.
I have been reading the blog for a while and just got the C&Z book (not easy to find in Ireland!) but never dared the forum before!
I have been making the Gateau au yaourt (with orange blossom water rather than rum as my grand mother used to do) and my daugher loves it so much that she even wants it for her birthday cake![/quote]

This sounds surprisingly delish
