Happy Hannukah to all who begin celebrating tonight — or who have already begun! I hope the week brings joy and peace and is the beginning of lasting peace we all can share.

Thanks Rainey! I'm doing my best to avoid a latke frying marathon tonight. (Luckily it's still warm enough in Pasadena to open the windows afterward). For my money, I'd skip the frying altogether and just put olive oil on an insalata caprese instead. But my other favorite food group--chocolate coins--will definitely be in evidence. Best wishes to everyone out there, frying or not!

Happy Hannukah! No more war, more food! More peace! More good stuff altogether!

Thanks! Happy holiday to you guys too! Did anyone else read the New York Times article about babka today and start wondering if they could spare 6 hours or so to make it?
