Here is an update on my misprinting adventure:

Someone from Ten Speed Press called me back today and graciously said they would send me a new book! And I don't even have to return the faulty book!

The representative was very nice and said that 1) they stand behind their products, and 2) he would send the new book (plus check the pages!).

When I shared story this with a coworker, she offered to give me part of her sourdough starter.

Lots of good karma flowing my direction today Very Happy

Thanks for the link Msue... I like this Erin almost as much as the one here. Tho' she isn't right about dictionaries being Victorian and she... oh I just want to have a conversation with her.

She's also very much American without being aware of what's happening in the UK - the home of er, English!!

Tho' my favourite comment is the one that goes - English is the lingua franca of the world. Except that lingua franca means French Language... in Italian!!

Dearest Griffin, but Lingua Franca does not mean French Language in.. Italian. It is Latin ( Italian) but etymologically it is "the language of the Franks" which were a germanic tribe, one of the many "Barbarian tribes" who invaded the Roman Empire and finally destroyed it.
Those interested in details, can just "google" ( computer world "lingua franca") " Lingua Franca" , all the datails are there. Of course English is the Lingua Franca today, or at least one of many.
Remember Esperanto?

No more war, let's invent a global peace "lingua franca"

You are sooooo right.
Probably food is the only one true "lingua franca" in the world.

No more war. ( Jerusalem is under siege- Bush is here )
