My friend has a French-made Rosieres Rosane, an older model. She doesn't have the French manual, and she's having problems with the temperature gauge. The dial gives options of 1 to 10, with 1 presumably being low heat. But her internal oven themometer shows that the oven quickly heats to 450 degrees F no matter how she sets the dial.

Any thoughts?

It sure does a good kiln impersonation. She's spent hours on the internet looking, no luck so far.

Sounds like the oven's thermostat isn't working any more. I had that problem with my Ilve oven, and replacing the thermostat was going to cost more than the original price of the darn thing!

Can't offer any suggestions, unfortunately.

Well if no luck using it as an oven and as it does such a good impersonation... has she thought of becoming a potter?!

If she can at least find the company and the price of a new thermostat she could get an idea of the price of a new one compared to the price of a new oven from the company and see if it's worth buying one or t'other.
