I've been thinking about adding more Le Creuset cast iron to my kitchen. So far, I have a 1.5 and a 5.5 quart round dutch oven.
Could you share with me what size Le Creusets you have in your kitchen and what you use them for? That would give me an idea re what I should add based on what new recipes I want to try or what I want to cook better. Thanks! _________________ "Help! Help! What about a considerably big oval or, of there is one, oblong size? These would be nice for cooking bigger fish in, as iron pots keep the heat so well. My enameled iron pot has seen many salmon trouts stuffed with lemon and rosemary through the years |

Harpospeaking, the short answer to your original question would have to be 'There is no such thing as too many pieces of Le Creuset'.
I have a 4.2L oval pot, a multifunction saucepan with a lid that can be used as a little skillet, a large frypan, the giant chargrill, 2 sizes of rectangular baking dish and an oval baking dish. I use them all frequently for just about anything and everything.
What should you add to your collection? If I had to nominate just one more piece, I'd go for the large rectangular baking dish. I use it for roasting meats and vegetables, lasagnes, quiches and pies when we're cooking for more than the 4 of us, risottos, pasta bakes. It gets heavy when it's full, but it always looks great on the table. _________________ Doing what you like is freedom

Can you really have enough Le Creuset? I have a saucier, medium skillet, a medium tomato pot, 5.5 qt french oven, the giant skillet large enough to cook a whole salmon, assorted bakers and little tiny french ovens to add a flurish to my table settings. Oh, and my tagine.
We have an outlet close by. I'm like a moth to a flame. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

I don't know how many one should have but I have gotten the mini yellow & green peppers and the tomato made out of ceramic. Have you seen them? They're too cute. I'm hoping one day I'll run across the mini head of garlic too. Then maybe after that I'll figure out what to do with them... _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

I love those Rainey!
Harpospeaking, I am so annoyed with myself. A week or so ago I threw out a flier from the Le Creuset store near here proclaiming huge deals on their sets. If you haven't bought them already, see if you have a store nearby, it'll be a much better price. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

Yeah. Too cute. I hope there will be some spot in the new kitchen to see them to advantage. Otherwise, they may turn up near my computer holding paperclips or snacks. Still, they're cute as buttons. _________________ God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny. -- Garrison Keillor |

Harpospeaking...that 12 piece set looks fabulous! I, too, wish I had $899 floating around
I don't know which colour I would get though. I have Denby Imperial Blue crockery, but the Le Creuset blue is somewhat lighter, I think (though on that website it looks darker than I have seen in the shops). I am not a fan of the traditional orange. The cream is tempting, but I think that over time the bottom edges of this might be difficult to keep clean...
So many difficult decisions to make.... Sigh... |

I admire the Staub "cocottes" just as much as the Le Creuset-- my favorite being the beautiful deep red grenadine color:

The black (a matte finish, rather than super shiny) is cool too, with a gold knob.
But what I like best is what these pots can do. They sort of become your favorite the first time you use them. |

Just went out and bought more.
The salesman is so charming and they were having a sale. I am now officially way over capacity for my kitchen, we're going to have to redesign. Maybe I'll go back and buy one of those stand pot racks. Maybe I'll send Phil, I shouldn't be trusted around such a persuasive salesman or pusher as I like to call him.
Some people have smack, I have Le Creuset. _________________ "It's watery....and yet there's a smack of ham."

You know you have too much Le Creuset when you can't get any more in the house. _________________ "In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines

No, Andrew. That's when you get a bigger house. There's no such thing as too much Le Creuset! |

I've taken to storing potatoes/onions in the big ones, but I'll bet that's not a good idea--those foods should have good air circulation? |
