Hello, am hoping to do some foodie research in France around March/April 05 - does anyone know of any truly wonderful food tours specifically designed for food lovers and professionals ? I am not particularly interested in Cooking programmes - looking more towards eating in some amazing places - both tradional and contemporary plus the odd visit to wonderful produce suppliers - cheese, chocolate, foie gras, truffles etc.
Your help would be much appreciated!
Cheers!!

Welcome to this wonderful forum.

You probably don't want to hear from an Aussie, but I was just reading in the Weekend Australian magazine about Gourmet Tours of Australia. They run tours in Oz and overseas, including a couple to South West France next year.

Might be a good starting point.

An excellent book to read is Serge Dansereau's Food and Friends, about a trip he and his family did around France and Italy. He was executive chef at the Regent Hotel in Sydney, and is now owner-chef of the Bathers Pavillion at Balmoral. It's an inspiring read.

Hi Judy, thanks for your mail - I will check out the site. I have Serge's book ( somewhere in my office!) and will hunt it out - plus bathers is almost round the corner from me so I know his food well - yum.

cheers!
