You name it, there's a festival celebrating something good from this wonderful Earth throughout the summer.
I just spent a great 12 hours at Taste of Chicago, which celebrated it's 25th Birthday Celebration this year. Everything from Aligator pizza, Catfish nuggets, African Stew...you name it, they sold it.
So, do any other C & Zer's attend Food Fests and how far afield do you travel to them? _________________ Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
I love those kind of things. Doesn't matter what the reason or theme, they are always interesting. You find fabulous new ways of cooking/presenting dishes and also fabulous new ingredients or food pairings.
We were in Champagne last month and there was a medieval festival in Troyes. They had a mini food festival as part of it, showcasing small producers from the area. We tasted delicious sheep and goat cheeses, interesting herb mixtures, wines and champagnes (of course), and all types of meats. Some of the sausages were rolled in herbs, some in ashes, some in nuts, some just left as they are and cured. Then there was smoked meats, dried meats, fresh meats cooked over an open fire... the list goes on. It was wonderful.
In Sydney we always went to the coffee festival (my husbands preferred hot beverage), and the wine festival which was held annually. If we had the time and could get to it we went to as many of the food ones as we could as well. _________________ If you cannot feel your arteries hardening, eat more cheese. If you can, drink more red wine. Diet is just "die" with a "t" on the end. Exercise is walking into the kitchen.
