Am enjoying reading Belinda Luscombe's article in Time magazine on Heath Ledger (our Heath Wink ). You know when you come across a sentence that goes further than the eyes...deeper..for whatever reason...ok..here's the one that's done it for me...thought I'd share with you...

By the way, Brokeback Mountain hasn't opened in Oz as yet...Ledger plays Ennis Del Mar..

"Del Mar doesn't have too much to say, but he's got a Russian novel's worth of body language, most of it about loss."

I love that sentence so much...could read it over and over ..and yet again...

anyone lucky enough to have seen the film yet? I'd be interested in your response to it..

glass raised as ever to cinema...clink

madam, i don't think brokeback mountain is out in the states yet either, but i'm so stoked for it. i don't get excited about hollywood movies very often but ang lee is a great director and it looks like they tackle the love the way it ought to be-- a love story! also, jake gyllenhall and heath ledger making out for two hours? Yes, Please!

It won't be released in the states until December 9th. I'm definitely going to see it. It's one of the two movies I am really looking forward to this holiday season. The other is Memoirs of a Geisha. If you haven't read the work the film was based on--Annie Proulx's short story in the collection Close Range--you should run to your nearest public library or locally-owned bookstore.

I am pretty excited for both of those movies, especially for, "Memiors of a Geisha", Zhang Ziyi is wonderful.

glass raised..clink...to all those fine actors who give us such art....in all countries...another clink...to cinema...

'n this letter in today's Sydney Morning Herald:

You mean Heath Ledger was only pretending to be gay in Brokeback Mountain ("Keeping it in the closet", December 10-11)? Hot damn! First Keanu never calls and now this.

I am very cranky, Phil and I were going to see "Brokeback" tonight and it's not even showing in my zip code. That happens when you live in the boonies. I can't wait to hear your reviews.

Erin Sweetie..we have to wait until the end of January to see it in cinemas....you'd think Heath would have organised that better for his countryfolk! Wink
