Hello everyone,

I have recently started listening to podcasts on my mp3 player (mostly as I walk around the city). A friend of mine turned me on to KCRW's "Good Food" show (http://www.kcrw.com/podcast/) and I enjoy it very much, but it's just one show a week, and I need more! Smile

So I was wondering if you had favorites to share: I'm interested in food-oriented podcasts of course, but if you have recommendations for other topics, I would gladly check them out as well.

Thanks!
Clotilde.

I only have a couple of podcasts I listen to regularly, neither are food related, but In Our Time, from the BBC is quite interesting, covering all sorts of topics from history to number theory, philosophy to poets.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/history/inourtime/

And it's available on the iTunes music store too.

The other is an Australian national radio show, JJJ's Dr Karl. Mostly science related talkback.

And then there's the video podcast, Tiki Bar TV.

http://www.tikibartv.com/

A silly but entertaining cocktail related video podcast... hmmm, cocktails are food right ?

Hi Clotilde,
I like listening to lonely planets travelcasts. There're really interesting and give me ideas for my future travels. I also have a somewhat skewed sense of humor, so I enjoy "The Onion Radio News", which is satire of news headlines. They are very short, totally outrageous, but make my day. Good luck.

slate magazine is an excellent online magazine with excellent podcasts. visit www.slate.com and check out an interesting article on Rachel Ray under "Most read articles" in the 'About us' section. There is also a podcast on Trader Joe's from March 17th, check that one out.

Hi Clotilde,

I highly recommend the Eat Feed podcast(http://www.eatfeed.com/). You can also download the casts from iTunes.
Topics have included:

Ice Cream through the Ages
A Culinary Independence (food, Jefferson and Monticello)
Naples in New York
The Art of Breakfast

There's enough old podcasts to keep you entertained for weeks!

The best food related video podcast I've found is PodTravels.TV - Tuscany. It's an amazing travel and cooking podcast. The cooking segments are terrific (and something I'd love to see on Chocolate & Zucchini)--they're very simple and not overly produced segments showing Italian home cooks preparing a meal in their own kitchen. Sometimes alone, sometimes with friends. They chat away and ignore the camera, so it feels like your just hanging out with them.
You can find them on iTunes.

If you're looking for a funny food podcast you could listen to, well, mine. Yes, it's a shameless plug, but it never hurts to get the word out about it. It's called Gastrologica, and you can find it on itunes under arts/food or just go to http://digriz60.libsyn.com.

We talk about a wide variety of topics, usually off the cuff about drinks, restaurants and recipes. I host the show along with Dan Cincis, who is Executive Chef of Calabasas Country Club.

I'll tell you honestly we are a bit edgy, so I can't guarantee it will be your speed. We record it with the intention of being the antithesis of NPR, so it is high energy, funny and edgy without being vulgar (we publish an uncensored version of the show called Playing With Fire in the comedy category of itunes for that).

If we aren't to your liking, we are part of the Culinary Podcast Network, and there are some fine shows you might enjoy including Simply Ming, Food Philosophy and ReMarkable Palate, to name a few.

Well, sorry this sounds like an infomercial, but I just thought I'd bring a few shows to everyone's attention.

Keep Eating!

Oh! Splendid Table! Here's the website. http://splendidtable.publicradio.org/ I'm too computer illiterate to know how to access podcasts.

And then, OF COURSE, there's the non-food but sublime, nonetheless, Prairie Home Companion http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/index.php ...if only the world knew Americans through Garison Keillor and not George Bush. ::mournful sigh::
